In April, @viemccoy threw the GENPUNK SLOP SHOW at the Vivarium in San Francisco, and I agreed to go on stage and play. I made a hyperstimulus genre mashup set from unusual language model outputs and suffered it on stage for everyone’s amusement. Then I turned the set into an album, which you can listen to now on Spotify and everywhere else.
We've been backed into a corner. Gen-AI is now counter-culture -- at least technically. We have no choice but to put on the GENPUNK SLOP SHOW!

The great thing about the slop show is we came out to all do it together. And everybody like took on their stage persona and brought their sound. We reified the music by listening to it together in a context and charged those personas towards superhero status. We have to add human feedback to the loop, like we did by dancing to them.
Unfortunately I’m now obsessed with those songs and scaring my neighbors.
"Mixtape" is the right frame for sharing Prompt Jockey sets. They're more lowkey than albums, and they’re not really made for streaming platforms. It's more like a throwback to DatPiff: producers flexing with unauthorized remixes, mashups, and left-field experiments.
