This is true. I built a sick Bloomberg terminal inspired UI last year, fully keyboard navigable, command pane, everything. A dozen different sci-fi inspired UI themes including Evangelion colors. Techies liked it. Everybody else took one look and said that looks like Bad Computer
To clear this up, when I said this I specifically meant a certain crowd of startup guys who are going to inevitably base their UX around this trend.
