I didn’t think I liked America until I found out about international rainbow gatherings. Apparently everywhere else it’s just shanti hippies singing kumbaya and eating vegan rice. Nobody burns a tire or smokes DMT on the trail.
They don’t have rattlesnake kebabs or fur tanning workshops. They don’t have a camp full of violent drunks on the road. They don’t have complicated internecine guild dynamics or a cigarette mafia or a baby fighting ring at all.
One year during the silent prayer for peace, Death Camp walked into the meadow with a full-on marching band. Some people circled them and tried to AUM them out, which worked, but also accidentally started the AUM 2 hours early.
I guess what I’m saying is I love freedom and chaos and mischief. Rainbow is an act of civil disobedience and a culture of it as well. The anti-rainbow gathering gathering gathers together with the rainbow gathering every year to celebrate peace (despite hating each other).
