Communal scrolling

Live streaming as communal scrolling. The private, antisocial experience of the algorithmic feed externalized. The self no longer atomized, chopped up into posts which must be inserted between others’ posts, but continuous, an ongoing monologue self-reflecting upon the object of digital experience instead of being dominated by it. The chorus, the audience and the director all rolled into one in the form of the ever-present Chat. The Streamer watches the feed and the Chat watches the streamer and the alien mind of the Feed watches us all to decide what to send next.
